The Heat Is Causing Condensation to Form Under the Moisture Barrier on My Laminate Floor. Condensation is a serious concern for concrete floors when they are covered by additional flooring material, such as laminate planks. Concrete floors are porous, which means that moisture can pass through them easily.
Considering this, why is my laminate floor sweating?
For most floors, condensation is the main reason for the sweating, especially in warm weather. When warm humid air from outside comes into contact with the cold concrete the air rapidly cools and condenses on the surface causing the wetness.
Also to know is, does laminate flooring cause damp?
The underlay of the laminate flooring includes a thin plastic sheet that covers the concrete floor right up to the skirting. The damp is all in the lower part of the walls (the first couple of feet) and is particularly bad in the skirting boards (some of which have completely rotted).
How to stop concrete sweating
- Dry out the room by air movement: a high volume low speed fan works well.
- Turn down the air conditioning/turn up the heat to keep the concrete floor temperature and the air temperature at similiar levels.
- Use a dehumidifier to remove moisture from the air and reduce the condensation.
