This is a phrase typically used in reference to washing clothes, but more specifically drying. “No tumble dry” simply means do not dry in a dryer, but rather hang it out to dry. Most often, this is because frequent drying via heat will cause the colors to fade prematurely.
Keeping this in consideration, why does it say do not tumble dry?
If you put your clothes in the tumble dryer (the one's which specifically say do not tumble dry), your in danger of shrinking your clothes and ruining the shape of them basically.
- Use a high spin. Use a high spin setting on your washing machine so that as much water as possible is removed from your clothes before they're even ready to dry.

Then, is tumble dry the same as air dry?
Simply put, tumble dry means that you can dry the garment in your dryer instead of air drying it.
Tumble dry low refers to the temperature setting on your dryer. This means that the interior of the dryer drum heats up to a certain temperature and shuts off the heat until it is told to heat again. The automatic cycle on your dryer timer does not have minutes set into it.
