In this regard, can Polyester be dyed with a natural dye?
Natural dyes are mostly used to dye natural fibers like cotton, wool, silk, jute etc. But very little information is available on dyeing of synthetic filament like polyester, acrylic, nylon etc. The dyeing of synthetic fabrics with natural dyes requires pre-treatments to generate hydrophilic groups.
My pre-dye research revealed the following: Turmeric doesn't require a mordant to set the dye. That's cool - no other specialized ingredients needed! Unfortunately, it's also what's called a 'fugitive dye' - the chemical nature of fugitive dyes means they're kind of semi-permanent.
