What is the Hypothenar area?
Keeping this in view, what is the Hypothenar?
The hypothenar musculature is a group of four short muscles found at the ulnar side of the palm. Their muscle bellies form the prominent surface above the base of the little finger, also known as the hypothenar eminence.
Keeping this in consideration, what does Thenar and Hypothenar mean?
The hypothenar muscles produce the hypothenar eminence – a muscular protrusion on the medial side of the palm, at the base of the little finger. These muscles are similar to the thenar muscles in both name and organisation. The ulnar nerve innervates the muscles of the hypothenar eminence. Opponens Digiti Minimi.
The hypothenar eminence is a group of three intrinsic hand muscles, the “digiti minimi” that control the motion of the little finger. Those muscles are: the abductor digiti minimi, the flexor digiti minimi brevis, and the opponens digiti minimi.
