Similarly one may ask, is HP and HPE the same?
Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) was created in 2015 when HP split its operation into two. On one side is HP Inc, the printer and PC arm of the company, while HPE deals with enterprise products and services.
Those with shares in HPE received shares in the new company - DXC. So folks who originally had shares in Hewlett Packard did end up owning part of DXC, but HPE does not own DXC. HPE did end up divesting most of its software business (not all) to Microfocus in 2018.
