Why is my magnolia trees leaves curling up?
Consequently, what's wrong with my magnolia tree?
Cultural Problems Frost, too much sun, excessive heat and harsh winds can leave the magnolia foliage discolored and wilted. The damaged leaves can turn black, die and drop from the branches. This is called leaf burn or leaf scorch and the damaged tissue cannot be repaired.
In respect to this, how do you know when a magnolia tree is dying?
To see if your tree is still alive take your finger and scrape the branches. If the tissue underneath is green or has a green cast to it, the tree is still alive. You will need to prune off any dead till you reach the green tissue. When you planted the magnolia trees, did make sure not to plant them too deep.
Tulip Tree Aphids Aphids feed on tree sap and cause pale, yellow spots on leaves and may also make leaves curl or pucker and distort blooms. The insects ingest more sap than they need and secrete the excess as honeydew, which leads to sooty mold. Heavy infestations cause leaves to turn brown and drop off.
