Also to know is, why did Hummers get discontinued?
Yes, GM stop the production of Hummers. When they came out of Bankruptcy, the brand was dropped because it wasn't making any money. It never did anything well, but allowed those that wanted the "Hummer" name to own it. Even though it was a big vehicle, it just wasn't "Earth" friendly in ANY size, H1, H2 or H3.
Hereof, are Hummers still being produced?
The H3 and H3T, the last two Hummer models still being made, are produced at GM's Shreveport, La., factory. The factory, which also makes the GMC Canyon and Chevrolet Colorado pick-ups, will stay open. The plant employs 1,120 people and no layoffs are planned.
Nicknamed the Humvee and designed to transport troops and cargo, the wide, rugged vehicles entered the spotlight when they were used by the American military during the 1989 invasion of Panama and the Persian Gulf War in the early 1990s. In 1992, a civilian version of the Humvee, known as the Hummer, went on sale.
