Tendinopathy (tendinitis or tendinosis) is the most common condition affecting the elbow. ?It is called "tennis elbow" or lateral epicondylitis when there is an injury to the outer elbow tendon. ?It is called "golfer's elbow" or medial epicondylitis when there is an injury to the inner elbow tendon.
In respect to this, how do you treat tendinopathy?
Tendinopathy Treatment
- Rest the painful area, and avoid any activity that makes the pain worse.
- Apply ice or cold packs for 20 minutes at a time, as often as 2 times an hour, for the first 72 hours. Keep using ice as long as it helps.
- Do gentle range-of-motion exercises and stretching to prevent stiffness.
In this regard, what is the difference between tendonitis and Tendinopathy?
Some people use the terms tendinopathy and tendonitis interchangeably. While the two have almost identical symptoms, they're different conditions. Tendinopathy is a degeneration of the collagen protein that forms the tendon. Tendonitis, on the other hand, is just inflammation of the tendon.
Types of treatment that help are:
- Icing the elbow to reduce pain and swelling.
- Using an elbow strap to protect the injured tendon from further strain.
- Taking nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory (NSAIDs), such as ibuprofen, naproxen, or aspirin, to help with pain and swelling.
