Circumduction gait is an abnormal gait in which a person in order to clear the ground lifts the leg and takes way form body and moves forward in a semicircular pattern. Circumduction gait is commonly seen in hemiplegia, hemiparesis, severe OA knee, foot drop due to nerve injury.
Accordingly, how do you describe a normal gait?
The patient should be able to walk with a smooth, coordinated gait. There should be normal associated movement of the upper extremities. A good way to test balance as well as strength of the distal lower extremities is to have the patient heel and toe walk. Have the patient walk heel-to-toe.
Also to know, can gait be corrected?
If an underlying condition is the cause of an abnormal gait, a person's walk should correct itself when the condition is treated. This is often true for broken bones, as they can be treated with a cast. Other injuries may require surgery or physical therapy to help return the gait to normal.
