What is a 313a Licence?
Simply so, what is the difference between 313a and 313d?
The 313A is the refrigeration and air conditioning systems mechanic license, and the 313D is the residential air conditioning systems mechanic license. If you do get the 313A license, you're required to get the TSSA Certificate of Authorization for Refrigeration / Air Conditioning Contractors.
- Earn a high school diploma or GED equivalent (depends on your state)
- Receive an HVAC certificate from an accredited trade school or program (depends on your state)
- Obtain your HVAC licence from the state you plan on working in.
- Pass certification exams for different types of HVAC careers.

A refrigeration contractor, who works with more than 10 tons of refrigeration must be licensed. To become licensed, you will need to complete 100 hours of classroom theory education at an approved school, pass an exam, and show that you have had 2,000 hours of experience as a licensed refrigeration technician.
You must complete a government-approved environmental awareness training course in order to purchase and handle refrigerants in Ontario. The course takes one day to complete.
