Back in the days when people routinely ate shrimp cocktail, it would have been pretty normal to follow it with a porterhouse steak, baked potato, creamed spinach, and maybe a salad to cleanse the palate before a big slice of cheesecake.
Correspondingly, what do you serve with cold shrimp?
- Arrange cold shrimp around a goblet or dish or on a bed of iceberg lettuce leaves.
- Make cocktail sauce for dipping by combining ketchup with horseradish.
- Serve the shrimp cocktail with cut lemon wedges and an extra bowl to collect the tails.
- Grilled or Steamed Vegetables. Flakier fish like fluke, tilapia and flounder cook best on the grill or in the oven when they are wrapped in foil.
- Potatoes.
- Pasta.
- Salad.
- Quinoa.
Accordingly, how do you display shrimp cocktail?
Fill a glass bowl or trifle dish about halfway full of ice. Place a small glass bowl in the center for the cocktail sauce and then place sliced lemons on the sides of the larger bowl. Top off the bowl with more ice and add the shrimp around the top and resting on the sides. Pretty and functional!
Wash Up. If you're deveining and cooking raw shrimp, immediately wash your hands, and any kitchen utensils that have come in contact with them, with soap and water. That reduces the risk of spreading bacteria from the shrimp to any other food you're serving.
