Taxes are not charged when funds are added. This applies to both Nintendo eShop Prepaid Funds Cards as well as Credit Cards. Users are required to pay all applicable sales tax on their eShop purchases.
Similarly, it is asked, how much tax does Nintendo eShop charge?
As far as I know, you don't pay taxes when you buy eshop cards (might depend on where you buy them). But when you use them on the eshop, they will charge you.
Then, does switch online have tax?
This service is only for Nintendo Switch. It does not affect online play for Wii U or Nintendo 3DS systems. Prices listed are in U.S. dollars and do not include tax. Nintendo Switch Online membership (sold separately) and Nintendo Account required for online play.
In Canada getting charged 5%GST on the eShop sucks. (Alberta has no PST) but hey it does help pay for our health care system. What really sucks is buying a $20 or $40 game with a credit card. Add the 5% tax and they force you to use a credit card to almost buy digital eShop cards.
