As has been mentioned in other threads, getting a job as an EMT is pretty easy. Getting a good job as an EMT is pretty difficult, especially if you want to get paid well. You WON'T be getting rich as an EMT, but it will be a job.
Also to know is, how long does it take to get hired as an EMT?
EMR | 2-4 weeks/55-65 hours |
---|---|
EMT | 3-11 weeks/120 hours |
AEMT | The EMT program PLUS an additional 350 hours |
Paramedic | Two years/1,200 to 1,800 hours |
Similarly, you may ask, is it worth being an EMT?
Yes, being an EMT is worth it. It depends is the answer really. I have an easy job as a paramedic. So it really depends where you work, your reaction to bad jobs, and what you think you should be paid.
A career as an EMT is best suited for those who enjoy working with others and have excellent problem-solving and listening skills. EMTs must often be detectives of sorts, having to figure out what is wrong with a patient after sorting through information that may not be as complete as one might like.
