Artist Biography by Michael Sutton
Nakpil wanted to construct a rock group and after auditioning numerous musicians and undergoing lineup changes, RiverMaya was formed with Bamboo Manalac (vocals), Perf de Castro (guitar), Nathan Azarcon (bass), Rico Blanco (keyboards), and Mark Escueta (drums).
Just so, why did Rico leave rivermaya?
"Rivermaya survived the departure of Perf de Castro, Bamboo Mañalac, and Nathan Azarcon simply because they're not the chief songwriter," one music journalist said. "Rico was the most important component of that band because he supplied the hits. It was the same when Ely (Buendia) left the Eraserheads.
Also to know, who wrote Rivermaya songs?
They started putting together original songs like "Ulan" [Rain], "214", and "Awit ng Kabataan" [Song of the Youth] (mostly composed by Rico Blanco) in demo form for prospective recording companies.
