Food coloring is also acceptable for dying sand. You may need to add dye several times until it gets to the desired shade you like. The sand will dry lighter so do not worry if the dye is very dark. Dry tempera paint powder is a nice additive that helps create bright colors.
- Colour Sand with Paint: Dilute 10mls paint with 10mls water. Mix until combined thoroughly.
- Colour Sand with Edicol Dye: Place sand into a container and add a teaspoon of edicol dye. Add a small quantity of water to release the dye and mix through sand thoroughly.
